Maine Question 2 allows for the legal possession, use, growing, and distribution of medical marijuana within Main. Patients who obtain a physician recommendation for medical marijuana may legally posses up to two and a half (2 ½) ounces of usable medical cannabis, use medical marijuana legally in their private residence, and obtain Main cannabis from a certified primary caregiver. Main medical marijuana patients are permitted to legally grow up to six (6) medical cannabis plants in their own private residence. Main medical marijuana patients may not sell medical cannabis to other medical marijuana patients; only designated primary caregivers may distribute cannabis to patients. A medical marijuana license does not guarantee immunity from workplace restriction on the use of medical marijuana; or housing restriction on the possession, growing, or use of medical cannabis. Driving under the influence of cannabis is prohibited under Question 2. Main does share reciprocity with other medical marijuana states. Qualifying patients are authorized, with a valid registry identification card, to engage in conduct authorized for the registered patient for 30 days after entering the state. Potential Main medical cannabis patients should consult with a physician, or medical cannabis registration company, to determine qualification to use medical marijuana in Maine.
